MY STYLE | MY COMFORT | MY SHOE

About Us

We are one of the first South African brands that specialise in animal-free, eco-friendly and comfortable fashion-forward women's footwear. We take fashion-forwardness literally, as our shoe ranges are straight off the runway for the season ahead. Usually, South Africa's new-in fashion is received a season after trends hit the fashion runway. For example, the Summer 2019 ranges will only become available in South Africa in our Summer 2020. With Myvea, you will have access to fashion trends ahead of time. None of our shoe ranges are repeatable, what's in stock is all there is. Therefore, this makes every range limited and every purchase unique. For ultra-comfort, we have a line that utilises comfort technology to ensure an ultra comfortable full-day wear.

100% Animal Free
We don't blame that you would like to make super-sure, so here is a certificate letter that confirms our non-use of animal products in our footwear ranges. Click the document below to enlarge for preview.

Where are our shoes from?
Our shoes are sourced from two Brazilian footwear brands; Ramarim and Indaia. Both brands manufacture their footwear in Brazil and declare to use animal free materials.

What are our shoes made out of?
Our shoes are made from artificial leather and animal-free fabrics.

What makes our shoes eco-friendly?
Apart from not harming animals, our brands don’t make use of leather for other reasons too; leather is made by tanning the hide (skin) of animals- usually cows, but many other animals leathers are worn including goat, kangaroo, crocodile, fish and many more. Around 80% of leather worldwide is tanned using chrome, a highly toxic process that results in a significant toxic waste being released into waterways, and serious harm to industrial tannery workers.

Conventional chrome-tanned leather results in serious water pollution that is toxic to the natural environment and the people that rely on the water supply and eco-system. What makes chromium saturated waste so toxic is that it contains numerous carcinogens which are released into waterways, therefore poisoning the eco-system.

An interesting fact is that livestock contributes to more than 18% of greenhouse gasses that cause global warming. That is more than cars, planes and all other forms of transport put together. This is because livestock like cows produce methane (methane is a greenhouse gas). The higher the demand for leather and meat-based products, the more livestock is bred and the more they contribute to global warming.
